Analysis

A new digital service from Porsche allows new owners of the manufacturer’s 911 model to track their car from production to their driveway, in the luxury carmaker’s latest bid for digital innovation.

Porsche Track Your Dream, which is currently only available on the 911, lets customers follow their new vehicle through 14 milestone touchpoints, from the manufacturing plant in Germany to arrival at a port in the United States, all the way to their private driveway.

“Buying a Porsche is a special moment, and one that should be as personal as possible, recognizing that placing the order and awaiting its delivery is part of the experience as anticipation builds. Porsche Track Your Dream allows our customers to trace every key stage of their new car as it leaves our home in Germany,” Klaus Zellmer, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America, Inc., said in a statement.

“This service gives future owners a convenient way of staying up to date before they see their car for the first time here in the US.”

The tool is currently only available to buyers of the Porsche 911, but the carmaker plans to expand its availability to new owners of the electric Taycan, as well.

Track Your Dream is part of the new My Porsche digital portal and is just the latest effort by the brand to add value for its already-small and niche customer base using in-house development wing Porsche Digital.

Earlier this month, Porsche launched a new vehicle search platform called Porsche Finder, which allows customers to search for previously owned Porsche vehicles by criteria including price and model. When that tool launched, Zellner said that the brand believes “Now is the time to put our foot on the accelerator to make the Porsche digital experience as stellar as our cars.”
