Streaming services are breaking down Hollywood’s barriers one block at a time. After years of critically acclaimed original content from streamers like Netflix, Amazon has scored a first for the streaming world: a nomination for Best Picture from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The film, Manchester by the Sea, earned a total of six nominations, including lead actor, supporting actor and supporting actress, as well as directing and original screenplay.

Netflix earned its first Oscar nom in 2014 for The Square. The company has produced myriad high quality hits, but typically they’re episodic content, not feature films.

Unlike Netflix, Amazon gives some of its movies full theatrical runs before releasing the content to Prime Video subscribers.
