Apple is working on a documentary with Cash Money Records. The world’s most valuable company has agreed to fund the documentary for the highly successful hip-hop label, which includes Drake, Lil Wayne, and Nicki Minaj.
Drake’s most recent album, “Views,” debuted on Apple Music and was a smashing success. Apple and Drake have a partnership, which includes using his music in Apple ads, and Drake endorsing Apple Music.
Apple is interested in television content these days. Its forthcoming reality television series, called Planet of the Apps, is an unscripted reality show which will focus on the app economy. The developers on the show will receive mentoring, and those who make it to the show’s final round will meet with venture capitalists looking to invest millions of dollars—and winning apps will be placed prominently in the App Store.
However, Apple does not consider Netflix a competitor.
“We’re not trying to compete with Netflix or compete with Comcast,” Apple senior vice president Eddy Cue is quoted as saying.
