A global law firm is helping Canadian startups check off critical steps in securing seed funding.

Dentons has launched a document generator that drafts seed financing investment documents. Through a single online questionnaire, the automated tool can generate term sheets, subscription agreements, shareholders agreements and share terms—all at no cost.

The firm said the new document generator is already being used by startups and investors across the country to streamline the seed financing process.

“At Dentons, we are embracing technology and innovation to develop new and better ways to address our clients’ needs,” said Beth Wilson, CEO of Dentons Canada. “This new offering is another way we are reshaping and redefining the legal industry.”

The automated tool was built by the firm’s Canadian Venture Technology and Emerging Growth Companies group and hosted on Dentons ventureBeyond website.

Dentons Canada launched its own startup program in 2013 to support the legal needs of early-stage Canadian technology companies. The program offered startups affordable incorporation, an extensive set of customizable legal documents, guidance on licensing strategies, and access to Dentons’ Intellectual Property practice.

“We are thrilled to provide tools to the market to make the fundraising process faster and easier,” said Andre Garber, Director of the Dentons Canada Startup Program. “Dentons will continue to be relentless in our commitment to innovation, seeking new ways to improve the legal process for startups and investors.”

Dentons launched a similar startup program in Poland in 2015.
