Wavefront is fuelling Canadian-grown mobile and IoT innovation coast to coast through its four accelerator programs for early to mid-stage entrepreneurs.

The Vancouver-based organization has announced its fall cohort, selecting 23 startups in sectors ranging from fintech to medicinal marijuana.

Wavefront is one of many organizations that are part of British Columbia’s Digital Supercluster consortium, one of nine business-led innovation superclusters shortlisted by the federal government for a $950 million five-year investment from Ottawa. The BC-led proposal is geared towards accelerating the adoption and commercialization of new technologies—something Wavefront mirrors through four accelerator programs.

“We are very excited to have such high caliber, innovative companies join our Accelerator programs across the country,” said Wavefront CEO James Maynard.

Wavefront-backed business incubators are run in Vancouver, Toronto and Halifax, and welcome a new cohort of companies twice a year.

“These companies have the potential to play a large role in the Canadian ecosystem, and our team of entrepreneurial business and technology experts are dedicated to helping them reach that potential,” he added

The Venture Acceleration Program, an initiative of the BC Innovation Council, is geared towards startups looking to scale fast. The program accepted Cityecho, Honeycomb, PROtect, SenseTecnic, SensoDrive Technology, Scofen, and Script Speaker.

The National Entrepreneurship Program is run out of Wavefront’s Toronto office and Volta Labs in Halifax. JiApp, SystemX, MoveBe and WittySmarties were selected in Ontario. Seven companies were chosen in Atlantic Canada: Project Evolve, Tapnbe, National Web Domains, WarrierTech, GreenSeaweed, Ti-med, Ubielife and OneStep.

Based in Vancouver, the RevUP program for high growth companies guides them as they build revenue, develop customer acquisition models and attain operational efficiency. The fall cohort is welcoming Koriist, Hyperlight, Rainforest Automation and Routeique.

All four accelerator programs offer market validation training, one-on-one mentorship, access to technical services, and can tap into Wavefront’s network of national connections.
