Lyft Acquires Two Tech Startups to Improve Customer Attraction, User Retention

Lyft has acquired two startups in an effort to improve its attraction for new customers and retention of current ones.

The first acquisition is YesGraph, which builds customer-centric referral programs. Lyft notes that referrals are “an important income stream for drivers.” The company has a specific driver referral program it hopes to expand through this transaction.

“The whole YesGraph team is incredibly excited to join Lyft,” said YesGraph Founder and CEO, Ivan Kirgin. “We’ve been obsessed with social referrals for years, and we can’t wait to help the Lyft driver community.”

The second acquisition is DataScore, which helps companies scale via customer acquisition, conversion, and retention programs.

“We’re joining Lyft because we deeply believe in the Lyft mission and company values, and we feel that together, we can build a growth organization to rapidly help improve transportation in cities across the US,” DataScore CEO Monica Ohara said.

Lyft’s service is now available to 80 per cent of the US population. The company says there have been more Lyft rides in 2017 than all of last year.
