President Trump Says Apple to Build Major Factories in US

President Donald Trump stated this week that Apple has promised to build multiple manufacturing plants in the US.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Trump informed the paper that Apple CEO Tim Cook has committed to three “big, beautiful plants.”

“I said you know, Tim, unless you start building your plants in this country, I won’t consider my administration an economic success,” Trump told WSJ. “He called me, and he said they are going forward.”

However, the President did not elaborate on where the plants might be located, nor did he offer a timeline on their construction.

Apple employs 80,000 workers in the US and claims to indirectly support another two million jobs across the nation through suppliers and third-party developers. But the vast majority of the company’s products are manufactured overseas, primarily in China through the Foxconn Technology Group.

The Taiwain-based Foxconn is also considering building a major plant in the US. Currently, the company is in the stage of reviewing potential locations in the country.
