Fluent.ai Appoints Artificial Intelligence Mastermind to Advisory Board

Fluent.ai has added renowned British artificial intelligence entrepreneur William Tunstall-Pedoe to its advisory board.

The Canadian AI startup, which develops speech recognition technology, says Tunstall-Pedoe has “unparalleled deep technical knowledge” and marks a “valuable addition to our growing team,” according to CEO Niraj Bhargava.

Tunstall-Pedoe founded Evi Technologies, which is now a division of Amazon following its acquisition in 2012. The core technology formed a basis for Amazon Alexa and Echo.

“Fluent.ai represents a tremendous opportunity validated by its issued patents and early market adoption,” believes Tunstall-Pedoe. “Fluent uses deep learning to enable high performance ‘speech understanding’ irrespective of language and accent and in noisy environments.”

“We look forward to drawing on his experience as a senior leader in the team that defined, built and launched what is clearly one of the hottest consumer tech products in the last few years,” added Bhargava.

Tunstall-Pedoe is now a full member of Cambridge Angels and a fellow of the Creative Destruction Lab, where he is focused on supporting the advancement of state-of-the-art computer technologies that have the potential for global impact.

In May, Fluent.ai raised a $2 million seed round.
