How This Police Officer Uses Social Media to Make City Cycling Safer

A Toronto Police officer has gained fame for calling out drivers on social media who block bicycle lanes.

Kyle Ashley, a 29-year-old who received social media training at the city’s police college earlier this year, has been a hit on Twitter the past month for promoting cycling safety.

His role, initially a one-month pilot project, has been extended through the end of June following positive feedback from the community.

Ashley tweets regularly, offering advice to cyclists and posting photos of motor vehicles that obstruct lanes. He’s also been collecting and mapping data.
