Amazon Launching Fire-Powered 4K TVs

Amazon plans to ship its own television sets soon. The TVs will be powered by the company’s own Fire operating system.

Available for pre-order this week, the TVs are expected to begin shipping in June. There will be models ranging from 43 inches for $450 to 65 inches for $900.

All of Amazon’s Fire TVs will support 4K video and feature quad-core processors with internal storage for apps, according to the company—specs it believes will future-proof the lineup. And anyone who has used Amazon’s Fire TV box will find these televisions very easy to use: Amazon is utilizing the same interface.

Amazon, which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, now has a market cap double that of Walmart.
