Apple has acquired Beddit, maker of the Beddit 3 Sleep Monitor, a sleep system that combines hardware and software to monitor daily sleeping habits through iPhone.

Apple was mum on the transaction as usual, but Beddit revealed the acquisition through an update to its privacy policy: “Beddit has been acquired by Apple. Your personal data will be collected, used and disclosed in accordance with the Apple Privacy Policy.”

The sleep monitor, which retails for $150, is ambient—so there’s no need to wear or charge it. The thin, flexible sensor is unnoticeable when placed under the sheet on top of the mattress. The device collects and analyzes sleep-related data such as sleep time and efficiency, heart rate, respiration, temperature, movement, snoring, room temperature, and room humidity, which it then visualizes on the mobile app.

There is no word from either company on whether Apple has any plans for Beddit other than to collect its data, but possible enhancements to the company’s HealthKit software is a safe bet.
