Microsoft announced today that Windows 10 is now the operation system of more than 500 million active machines.

The announcement came from the company’s annual Build conference, which is taking place this week at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle.

It’s a gain of 100 million devices over eight months, based on Microsoft’s last update last year.

The company originally anticipated Windows 10 would run on one million devices by the end of the year. However, now it’s unclear whether that number can even be reached by the end of 2018—or ever. A figure around 600 million is viable for this year, but with growth slowing, it’s difficult to imagine that number rising dramatically next year.

Microsoft made other announcements at Build, including a new service called Azure Batch AI Training and Cosmos DB, a new database tool.
