How many apps do smartphone users regularly use? How much time do they spend on their phones?
App Annie’s latest report looks at just how engaged the average smartphone user is and you may be surprised.
In 2016 App Annie reported that users downloaded over 90 billion apps from the iOS App Store and Google Play and they spent nearly 900 billion hours in apps.
While these figures are impressive, they can only tell a broad story about the sum of many users’ actions. What about the users themselves? Just how prevalent are apps in the average user’s life?
In App Annie’s latest report, Spotlight on Consumer App Usage, they tackle this question.
There is no doubt that apps have successfully worked their way into dozens of the tasks that we perform each month.
For all countries analyzed, the average smartphone user used over 30 apps per month and an average of at least nine apps per day with iPhone users using slightly more apps per day than Android phone users.
While time per user varied greatly between countries, it grew from 2015 to 2017 in every country analyzed, further proof of the growing dominance of apps.
Users in the US averaged over two hours and 15 minutes per day, which amounts to over one month out of the year.
