Apple Teacher Launches in Canada

Apple Teacher is now available in Canada and schools are starting to incorporate it into their own professional learning offerings.

The new professional learning program, designed to support and celebrate teachers, offers self-paced learning with free learning materials, tips, and inspiration.

Available in the United States since 2016, Apple Teacher is a a great way for leaders in schools and districts to offer a free professional learning program that helps teachers make the most of Mac, iPad and built-in apps for their students in the classroom.

The program guides teachers through free, organized resources that are based on real classroom examples and a learning path that supports teachers in getting more out of their Apple products.

Rhiannon Sparkes, an elementary school teacher at Dorset Elementary School in Quebec, set out to build a lesson that would deeply engage her students in the setting and themes of The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

By using books and apps on iPad, her fifth graders tap into their creativity and express their knowledge in the way that best suits their individual learning style.

According to the fifth grade teacher, “Using technology is where the students are most comfortable and most creative. So it’s really exciting to help them enjoy classic literature. The potential with iPad is limitless.”

Teachers can go through the learning path on their own, using the Apple Teacher Starter Guides to explore products and learn how to use them for teaching and learning.

Quizzes and badges in the Apple Teacher Learning Center help teachers keep track of and share their accomplishments on their way to becoming recognized as an Apple Teacher.
