Google Adding Real-Time Location Sharing to Maps

Google is adding a feature to Maps that will be able to share your real-time location across Android, iPhone, mobile web, and even desktop so that you no longer need to answer constant questions like “where are you now?”

“You can share your real-time location with your Google contacts, or even share with friends and family by sending a link on your favorite messenger apps,” says Daniel Resnick, Engineering Manager for Google Maps. “When you share your trip with people, they’ll see your expected arrival time and can follow your journey as you head toward your destination.”

Sharing automatically ends when you arrive, according to Resnick.

The new feature is rolling out “soon” worldwide, says Google.
