Move Aside, Minecraft: Roblox Raises $92 Million to Build Better Virtual Playground

Roblox has raised a staggering $92 million round to build what it hopes will be the ultimate virtual playground.

The round, led by Meritech Capital Partners and Index Ventures, will equip Roblox with the capital to grow its team and expand infrastructure and it works toward an ambitious goal.

Founded in 2006, Roblox has now raised more than $102 million to date. The platform has more than 48 million users today, including 24 million in North America and 11 million in Europe.

The cloud-based game, comparable in many ways to Minecraft, most targets younger players. It’s available to play on most platforms, from smartphones and platforms to Xbox One and Oculus Rift.
