DementiaHack Returns to Toronto to Support Dementia Community
DementiaHack returns to Toronto on Saturday, March 4. Produced by nonprofit tech movement HackerNest, DementiaHack aims to raise awareness and enable the development of life-improving products to help those living with dementia and their caregivers today.
“Much effort goes towards the search for a cure that may be decades away, but millions today face overwhelming, heartbreaking challenges daily,” organizers explain. “This socially beneficial hackathon pits technologists against some of the dementia community’s biggest challenges.”
Participants compete for $100,000 in cash and prizes that give them the resources they need to bring their products to market. This year’s grand prize includes a trip to Boston to pitch to and get mentorship from Harvard University faculty and VCs as well as lunch with Managing Director of Facebook & Instagram Canada, Jordan Banks, who will pair with Toronto Mayor John Tory to kick off the event.
The hackathon takes place at MaRS Discovery District.
