The concept of self-driving cars continue to gain steam among tech titans: Intel this week announced that it is creating a new group dedicated to autonomous driving technology.

Called Intel Automated Driving Group, the team will be led by Doug Davis, who hails from Intel’s Internet of Things group, which will now be headed by Tom Lantzsch, the former executive vice president of strategy at ARM.

“We created a new organization called the Automated Driving Group, which will be solely dedicated to innovating the future of driving and designing the next generation of advanced driver assist systems and autonomous driving solutions,” said Murthy Renduchintala, President, Client and Internet of Things (IoT) Businesses and Systems Architecture Group.

Kathy Winter will assist Davis as vice president and general manager of the Automated Solutions Division to deliver automated driving solutions. Prior to joining Intel this year, Winter was vice president of software and services for automated driving at Delphi.
