The Canadian Immigration Site Crashed as #MoveToCanada Responded to Trump Win

Donald Trump is officially the President of the United States of America but not everyone is willing to accept that fact.

Yesterday, as it became increasingly evident that Trump was poised to defeat Hillary Clinton for the presidency, hashtags such as #MoveToCanada trended in response. It’s been a running joke that Americans, including celebrities like Miley Cyrus and Lena Dunham, would move to Canada if Trump was elected (please let Dunham’s threat be an empty one).

Traffic peaked last night—so hard, in fact, that Canada’s immigration and citizenship page crashed due to server overload. Even today, the site is running rather sluggish.
