GoFundMe Launches First and Only Crowdfunding Guarantee
GoFundMe today announced the launch of the GoFundMe Guarantee, the first and only guarantee for crowdfunding.
Donors will now be protected by a refund policy in the case of campaign misuse, and funds raised by GoFundMe campaigns are guaranteed to go to the right person, ensuring donors’ intentions are honored and the recipient gets the help they need.
Launched in 2010, GoFundMe is the world’s largest online fundraising platform, with over $2 billion raised to date and a community of more than 25 million donors.
According to GoFundMe, campaigns with misuse make up less than one tenth of one percent of all campaigns.
“GoFundMe wouldn’t exist without the empathy of our donors, and the GoFundMe Guarantee is about protecting their generosity with the industry’s first and only guarantee,” said Rob Solomon, GoFundMe CEO. “We want every donor to know that we have their back. It’s a big deal to give, and we want there to be complete peace of mind when you donate on our platform.”
Under the GoFundMe Guarantee, donors who find evidence of misuse or deception are entitled to a refund of up to $1,000. In addition, if the campaign organizer doesn’t deliver funds to the intended recipient, GoFundMe will donate the undelivered amount, up to $25,000, to the right person.
