Two Product Changes Apple Made That It Didn’t Talk About During the Keynote

Yesterday, Tim Cook and co. took to the stage in San Francisco to unveil a new Apple Watch and the iPhone 7. They went into great detail about the new features, but they didn’t mention everything.

First, Apple has silently discontinued the Gold Edition Watch, which retailed for an insane $10,000. The company’s most expensive Apple Watch is now a Hermés collaboration for $1,500, followed by its new ceramic white Edition model for $1,249. We’re guessing the ostentatious, solid 18-karat gold version just didn’t draw in too many buyers, and Apple figured it was best to let it disappear that acknowledge that.

Second, Apple went back and quietly updated its iPad lineup. The company bolstered storage on all units, starting at 32GB and going up to 256GB. On top of that, the Pro models got a small price drop. Meanwhile, the Mini seems to be going the way of the Dodo bird—it’s now available in only a single configuration, and some believe Apple won’t even bother to upgrade it next year. We would not be surprised—it’s somewhat redundant to the iPhone 7 Plus, which is just as powerful and only slightly smaller with its 5.5-inch screen.
