What goes up must come down: following the unprecedented, meteoric rise of Pokémon Go early last month, it seems that the same has not only plateaued, but may even be losing players.
Then it plateaued. And now, less than two months later, some players are abandoning the game.
According to data from Axiom Capital Management, there are still more than 30 million users playing Pokémon Go, but that number has been in gradual decline for close to a month now. It’s difficult to say where the bottom is—or, with one of Niantic’s promised updates, a gaining back of players—but for now, active users, downloads, and even engagement are all trending downward.
Given that there is only so much time a consumer can commit to their phone screen, Tinder, at least, can breath a sigh of relief.
