Travis Kalanick Says Uber Drivers Have Given Two Billion Rides

Uber CEO Travis Kalanick Says that on June 18, 147 rides started at once, tying for the company’s two billionth trip.

The milestone was spread across 16 countries on five continents, from Costa Rica to Russia and from China to Australia, ranging from three minutes to more than an hour.

Kalanick says that because Uber is in 450 cities worldwide, he decided to give each of the 147 drivers $450.

“It took five years to reach our billionth trip, six months to reach the next billion, and we’ll hopefully reach our third even more quickly,” Kalanick wrote on Facebook.
