Cloud Services Spur Strong Quarter from IBM

IBM enjoyed a strong financial quarter, thanks largely to the cloud. The company, which in recent years has shifted toward cloud-based services and data analytics, saw revenue rise 12%.

Cloud revenue specifically jumped 30%, spurring IBM to beat analyst expectations. However, total revenue dropped nearly 3% to $20 billion. It marked IBM’s 17th straight quarterly revenue decline.

Shares rose more than 2% on the news.
