Three Canadian Startups as Finalists at 43North, Win Combined $1 Million

Three Canadian startups emerged as finalists at 43North.

43North, which claims to be the “world’s largest business idea competition,” awarded them a combined $1 million. Short of the grand prize, Toronto’s CleanSlate was one of six companies who won $500,000, while Toronto’s Qoints and Waterloo’s Plum.io netted $250,000 each.

CleanSlate sanitizes electronic devices with ultra violet light, while Qoints is a marketing data company and Plum specialized in cloud-based hiring.

The three companies are slated to open offices in Buffalo as a result of 43North, where the competition is based. In total, 43North handed out $5 million in cash.
