The BlackBerry PRIV is now available for preorder in Canada.
The PRIV is BlackBerry’s first Android-powered smartphone. It could also be the last smartphone the Canadian company ever makes. The smartphone has a 5.4-inch dual-curved screen with an 18-megapixel camera and a 3410 mAh battery. It also features a physical, slide-out keyboard.
Check out some of PRIV’s features in BlackBerry’s advertisement video below, which illustrates the new direction the Canadian company is going. The phone itself, running Android, is a radical departure, as is BlackBerry’s branding and marketing around the device.
“PRIV has the authentic BlackBerry keyboard, legendary security, streamlined communications and productivity, combined with the wide world of Google Play store apps,” BlackBerry says. “It has been engineered with the world’s finest technology, and packaged in an ultra-thin, ergonomically perfect device with a keyboard hidden by SmartSlide technology.”
The PRIV costs $899 in Canada.
