Vancouver’s Conquer Mobile, medical simulation training specialists, took first place at the Boost VC on-stage pitch contest at the Upload VR annual Virtual Reality Demo Day event last week.
The VR Demo Day event took place on July 13th at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California.
VR Demo Day features the industry’s top virtual reality companies from around the world, who are selected to attend the event. The event attracts prominent VC companies and angel investors focused on applications of virtual reality technology.
Boost VC offers a $25,000 cash investment to the winning company and the opportunity to take part in a 3 month accelerator program in Silicon Valley. The prize also includes a table at Techcrunch Disrupt taking place in San Francisco in September.
Conquer Mobile’s winning pitch was based on a medical simulation training tool called PeriopSim.

PeriopSim VR helps surgical staff to learn instruments and procedures and provides a safe way to practice before surgery. By providing a fully immersive, realistic learning environment, PeriopSim VR aims to cut the cost of orientation and double scrubbing for new staff. The iPad version is available as a free preview on the App Store.
“We are so stoked to win this prize.” commented Aaron Hilton, Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of Conquer Mobile. “VR has long been seen as an exclusively gaming focused technology but it is clear that it has a very practical, viable use in medical training.”
