Netflix CEO Reed Hastings recently hinted that his company is looking at ways of making it more difficult for users to share their account passwords.
It’s a real issue for Netflix, whose revenue is driven almost exclusively by the number of subscribed accounts: as many as two-thirds of users share their login info with others.
The most recent data from GlobalWebIndex shows 30% of users share their account with one other person, 16% with two others, and 19% with three others or more.
This means that, for each paying subscriber Netflix has, at least twice as many people are actually using the streaming service.
