Free wifi is coming to Vancouver’s community centres and civic facilities.
More than 43 locations will get free wifi, according to the city, which signed a contract with Vancouver-based telecommunications giant Telus.
The free wifi is expected to become available within the next six months.
Free wifi at key points in urban areas has long been touted as a positive for tourism and aids in emergency situations.
Shaw Communications, which provides free wifi in Surrey, lost the bid to Telus.
Areas in Vancouver that will get free wifi includes theatres, outdoor pools, and golf courses.
