FounderFuel grad returns to Vancouver with $1.1 Million Series A round

Playerize went from Vancouver to Montreal in late 2011 to join startup accelerator FounderFuel and now they’re back in Vancouver with a $1.1 Million round of fresh financing.

The Series A round includes Real Ventures, Rho Ventures, Mike Edwards of Initio Group, David Chamandy of Machkor, Martin-Luc Archambault, Dan Robichaud, and Jason Bailey.

Self-described as the “Google Adwords of game advertising”, Playerize helps game studios increase revenue from online game play and find new players for their games at “huge scale”. The company uses direct advertising and search networks to increase player acquisition as well.

Playerize plans to use the financing round to serve more game studios, expand its sales and development teams and secure more traffic sources for ad distribution. It also plans to develop its beta email service, which focuses on player reengagement.

At FounderFuel’s Demo Day in November Playerize announced that they had closed a $250k seed round from Rho, Real Ventures and a handful of local angels. Turns out the event drummed up much more interest from investors.

Playerize was founded in 2011 by Lyal Avery and Jeff Magnusson and is currently hiring.
